Updating the Story
Red Rock Reflections was originally written and published by the Red Rock Public Library as the Library’s way to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Township of Red Rock and as a contribution to the “RED ROCK‘S ALIVE IN 95”. The week long party was awesome and our publication was well received. Many people did not know the history of Red Rock and they were quite surprised at what an interesting story it is.
Well, more than twenty years have passed since the original publication and as you can well imagine a lot has happened in Red Rock in that time. It is time to update the story. The community has undergone many, many changes – not all of them positive – but the most important thing to remember is Red Rock is still here and it is still a wonderful place to live as many former residents who have moved back will tell you. They say it is like coming home.
Since 2001, Red Rock has had a very active Historical Society. The Society has been crucial in the updating of this story. Thanks to the generosity of citizens past and present the Society has an extensive collection of photos, memorabilia and artefacts. Many of those photos have been woven into the story to make it more visually pleasing. A big thank you goes out to members of the Society for their hard work and dedication in trying to live up to the Society’s Mission Statement ”The preservation of the past for the enrichment of the future”.
